Trendy Wide Legged Pants for Spring 2021

Hello everyone! I am really loving what I am seeing on the runway for the Spring and Summer 2021 season. I have always loved wearing a nice pair of wide legged pants because of the comfortable fit. Even though this style of pants have been around since the 1930s, they are always a welcomed trend – no matter what fashion era we are in.

There is one thing that you should know. Although wide legged pants have a relaxed fit, they are very distinguishable from ‘Slouchy’ pants, ‘Palazzo’ pants, and ‘Flared’ pants. Wide legged pants are fitted to the hips and then cut straight down or widened out as much as the designer likes.

I chose to use a gorgeous crepe-back satin fabric for the construction of these pants. However, notice that the crepe is on the outside. When the crepe effect is being used as the fashion side of the fabric, the fabric is called satin-back crepe. I love it! The eye catching color of this vibrant orange definitely feels and looks like Spring. I think I made a wise choice. Crepe-back satin or Satin-back crepe…Which side would you choose? A Vogue pattern that I had in my stash was the perfect choice. It is Vogue Pattern #V9257. This pattern is out of stock on the Vogue-Patterns website. But you can still find it online on sites like Joann-fabrics.

Styling

These wide legged pants are easy to style. Dress them up with a pair of chunky heeled sandals and a form fitting top for an evening out. Or, do what I did. For this shoot, I wanted a more casual, relaxed, edgy look. So I paired them with a pair of cute deck shoes by Vans (you can see the link below). My model is dressed in one of my favorite pieces. The top that she is wearing is designed by me. It is a beautiful Jersey Knit Crop top. It is embellished with beads, embroidery and glossy strings that hang off of the shirt. All of the embroidery and most of the beads are white.

I took these photos when the sun was very high. As a result, the details on this beautiful top is overexposed by the sun. I will be posting a ‘Watch Me Sew’ video on it soon.
